About the Role
DigitalOcean is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to help design, implement, and scale our global network—from the internet edge to hypervisors. You’ll join a high-impact team within our infrastructure group, ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our network to support hundreds of thousands of customers.
This is an ideal role for someone passionate about large-scale, modern network architecture and eager to work with cutting-edge technologies and automation.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement large-scale, high-availability networks

Develop and maintain network automation tools (e.g., Salt)

Collaborate with software engineers on SDN integration and monitoring platforms

Contribute to open-source networking projects

Perform hands-on troubleshooting of global and datacenter networks

Maintain robust network documentation and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
What We’re Looking For

BA/BS in Computer Science or related field

Strong programming skills (Go or Python preferred)

Expertise in Linux and Juniper hardware (MX, QFX, EX, SRX)

Experience with automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure monitoring

Familiarity with networking protocols: BGP, OSPF, VRRP, IS-IS, MPLS, etc.

Experience with Nokia, Arista, or Ciena equipment is a plus
