Job Overview:
Harbinger Motors is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing for a designated employee group. You will ensure accurate and timely payments while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll principles, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What You’ll Do:
- Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll, including calculating and entering hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll taxes.
- Maintain accurate employee records.
- Process and reconcile all payroll-related journal entries.
- Manage all required payroll tax reports (941, 940, W-2, W-3, state unemployment).
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Conduct regular payroll data audits.
- Assist with year-end processing (W-2 preparation and distribution).
- Stay current on all applicable payroll laws and regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls for payroll data integrity.
- Assist with special projects and other duties.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of payroll principles and regulations.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) and HRIS systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (CPP, FPC).
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
- Experience with unionized environments.
