Job Overview:

Harbinger Motors is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing for a designated employee group. You will ensure accurate and timely payments while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll principles, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll, including calculating and entering hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll taxes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records.
  • Process and reconcile all payroll-related journal entries.
  • Manage all required payroll tax reports (941, 940, W-2, W-3, state unemployment).
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Conduct regular payroll data audits.
  • Assist with year-end processing (W-2 preparation and distribution).
  • Stay current on all applicable payroll laws and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls for payroll data integrity.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles and regulations.
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (CPP, FPC).
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Experience with unionized environments.
