Role Overview
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing complex payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and acting as a subject matter expert within CFRA’s Finance team. This role supports both domestic and international payroll operations, collaborating closely with HR and Finance to maintain accurate, timely compensation.
Key Responsibilities

Process payroll across multiple states and countries, meeting strict deadlines.

Reconcile payroll registers, source documents, and funding totals for each pay period.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Review and verify payroll entries, deductions, and adjustments.

Handle complex payroll scenarios: retroactive pay, garnishments, commissions, and benefits.

Generate and analyze payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Support audits and regulatory filings.

Act as a point of contact for escalated payroll inquiries.
Required Qualifications

5+ years of payroll experience in multi-state or large-scale environments.

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards.

Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP, Workday, Paychex).

Experience with NetSuite or Ceridian a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification highly desirable.
