Key Responsibilities of an API Integration Engineer

Design and implement API developer portals and API-first solutions.

Establish and enforce API security, governance, and best practices.

Develop reusable enterprise integration patterns.

Build automation and self-service capabilities for API discovery, onboarding, and reporting.

Support integration and configuration of Apigee, MuleSoft, and related platforms.

Must-Have Qualifications for API Integration Engineer
To succeed as an API Integration Engineer, you’ll need:

Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of software development experience, OR High School Diploma/GED + 8 years of experience.

Strong skills in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, JavaScript, XML, SQL scripting.

Knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
