Role Overview
Pie is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead the three-statement financial modeling for strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting. You will influence executive and board-level decision-making by analyzing and explaining the key drivers of performance for insurance carriers. This role requires deep expertise in insurance accounting (GAAP and Statutory), modeling, and forecasting within the P&C insurance space.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance Financial Modeling

Build three-statement financial projection models (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) for GAAP and Statutory reporting.

Own capital modeling, including BCAR, RBC, and Hazardous Financial Condition assessments.

Perform variance analysis on key metrics such as gross written premium, net earned premium, losses, cash, and capital.

Develop presentations for executive leadership and the Board, illustrating forecasts, plans, and actual results.

Maintain rolling near- and long-term forecasts to inform management, board, investors, and regulators.

Lead process improvements and automation in financial modeling and reporting.

Mentor and train junior team members on advanced modeling techniques.
Reinsurance
-
Interpret reinsurance contracts and integrate accounting treatments into financial statements.

Build and maintain forecast models for reinsurance and scenario analysis of different structures.
Earned Premium & Loss Modeling
-
Model gross-to-net written and earned premium, accounting for UPR and IFP impacts.

Forecast net losses and LAE, incorporating actuarial, claims, and data science insights.

Perform variance analysis, explaining drivers of AY/PY and state/segment trends.
Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC)

Build and maintain DAC forecasts; optimize capitalization and amortization strategies with accounting and product teams.
Strategic Finance & Decision Support

Build ad-hoc financial models to support strategic initiatives, fundraising, and potential M&A activities.

Develop MD&A narratives for board and investor communications.

Present complex financial insights and recommendations to executives.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

10+ years of experience in insurance finance or accounting, with 7+ years in FP&A.

3+ years building financial models for insurance companies, including RBC and BCAR.

Strong insurance accounting knowledge (GAAP and Statutory).

Experience mentoring junior staff and influencing cross-functional teams.

Exceptional modeling skills, including three-statement modeling, scenario analysis, and automation.

Expertise in variance analysis and developing financial narratives for leadership.

High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Google Suite, Looker, Intacct, Adaptive, and Workday a plus.

Ability to work independently, manage large datasets, and focus on ROI-driven decision-making.
