About the Role
Lowndes County is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator to oversee the advanced administration and lifecycle management of the county’s enterprise IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, scalability, and security of mission-critical systems including servers, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and cloud integration.
Key Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and optimize virtualized server environments (VMware/Hyper-V).

Manage enterprise storage platforms (SAN/NAS) and UPS systems.

Oversee system patching, security hardening, and disaster recovery planning.

Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services.

Support integration with cloud and hybrid IT environments.

Conduct performance monitoring, capacity planning, and compliance checks.

Provide technical leadership and resolve complex system issues.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

5–8 years of progressive systems administration experience.

Strong expertise in VMware/Hyper-V, SAN/NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and backup solutions.

Skilled in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid/cloud integration.

Valid Georgia driver’s license (or ability to obtain).

Must pass a CJIS/GCIC background check.
