Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior System Support Specialist to join our Healthcare IT team. This role focuses on Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and other medical imaging solutions. The ideal candidate provides expert-level technical support, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization to healthcare providers, ensuring high system uptime, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration across hospital IT environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for RIS, PACS, Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA), and medical imaging workflows.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues while minimizing downtime and impact on patient care.

  • Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, IT teams, and vendors to optimize workflows.

  • Support interoperability standards including DICOM, HL7, and IHE.

  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and backup solutions for radiology IT systems.

  • Handle sensitive patient data in compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

  • Document troubleshooting activities and maintain accurate technical records.

  • Develop and update technical documentation and user guides.

  • Participate in on-call rotation, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.

  • Adhere to quality, regulatory, and compliance standards, including U.S. FDA medical device regulations and ISO 13485 requirements.

  • Provide professional, timely support via phone, email, or ticketing systems.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in Healthcare IT, preferably supporting radiology systems.

  • Expertise with PACS, RIS, VNA, and medical imaging workflows.

  • Knowledge of DICOM, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards.

  • Proficiency in Windows Server (2012-2022), networking, SQL Server, and/or Oracle.

  • Working knowledge of Linux and PostgreSQL environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow preferred, Salesforce or Zendesk acceptable).

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clinical and technical staff.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and HIPAA compliance.


Preferred Competencies

  • Industry certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Cisco) or RHCSA certification.

  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

  • Familiarity with cloud-based medical imaging and telemedicine technologies.

  • Multilingual proficiency (French is a plus).
