Corporate Tax Manager – Key Responsibilities
As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will take ownership of compliance, provision, and strategic tax initiatives across federal and multi-state operations.
Tax Compliance & Provision Management
- Lead preparation of federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates.
- Manage quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including deferred taxes, effective tax rates, and disclosures.
- Partner with finance and accounting to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactions and reporting integrity.
Research, Planning & Special Projects
- Monitor federal and state tax law changes, translating complex updates into actionable recommendations.
- Research and analyze technical tax issues including nexus, apportionment, and conformity matters.
- Support M&A due diligence, state tax planning, and modeling of tax impacts for new business initiatives.
- Assist in audits by preparing data and clear responses.
- Drive process improvement and implement technology solutions to increase efficiency.
Qualifications for Corporate Tax Manager
The ideal Corporate Tax Manager will be a proactive tax professional with a strong compliance background and strategic mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
- 3–5+ years of corporate tax experience with exposure to Big 4 or large public accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax rules.
- Experience with ASC 740, including deferred tax positions and valuation allowances.
- Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in tax compliance and provision software.
- Advanced Excel or Power BI experience.
- A builder’s mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvements.
