Salary: £27,560 – £31,800 per annum FTE (Term time – £23,652.68 – £27,291.55)
About the Role:
Shades is a groundbreaking racial justice and faith project dedicated to making schools and churches places of belonging, growth, and inclusion. As a Shades Schools Worker, you will support the expansion of Christian discipleship within schools and local parishes. Your work will empower children, young people, and families to engage with diversity, promote racial justice, and foster Christian faith in a safe and welcoming environment. You will play a key role in helping schools and churches celebrate diversity and integrate Christian values into everyday learning.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute to an impactful project within an educational context. We are looking for a committed Shades Schools Worker to help embed the Shades ethos into schools across the diocese.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop Discipleship Pathways: Create and support Christian discipleship programs for children, young people, and families within schools and local parishes.

Promote Racial Justice and Faith-Based Learning: Integrate the Shades Schools Worker ethos into school activities, helping foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and Christian faith.

Collaborate with Schools & Churches: Work closely with primary and secondary schools, along with local churches, to offer resources and support for Christian education and racial justice.

Support Students’ Growth: Guide children and young people in their Christian faith journey while encouraging their understanding of diversity and racial justice.
Required Qualifications & Experience:

Christian Faith Commitment: This role requires the post-holder to be a practising Christian as per Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Experience Working with Young People: A passion for working with children and young people, especially in faith-based settings, is essential.

Racial Justice Awareness: While not mandatory, prior experience in racial justice or diversity-focused work is a plus. Comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.

Enhanced DBS Check: The successful candidate will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check with a barred list check (child workforce).
