About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Specialist to manage inbound and outbound shipments efficiently. This role ensures accurate order processing, inventory management, and timely coordination with various departments. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, warehouse experience, and the ability to handle both shipping and receiving operations safely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping Duties:

  • Organize, prioritize, and process LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipments.

  • Prepare shipping documents including labels, packing lists, and bills of lading.

  • Verify LTL rates and ensure timely shipment confirmations.

  • Pull, package, and prepare parts for shipment, noting weights and dimensions.

  • Use carrier websites to arrange pickups and deliveries.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts.

  • Assist with daily warehouse organization and operations.

  • Operate a forklift to support shipping and loading/unloading tasks.

  • Perform additional shipping-related duties as assigned.

Receiving Duties:

  • Receive and inspect goods, verifying quantity and quality against supplier counts and packing slips.

  • Report discrepancies or damaged goods to management immediately.

  • Stage received materials in designated areas for production or storage.

  • Prioritize materials for production departments, including machine, welding, and paint shops.

  • Verify materials such as ductile iron pipe according to packing slips and Material Test Reports (MTR).

  • Assist with unloading trucks, stocking inventory, and processing will-call pick-ups.

  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving area at all times.

  • Perform additional receiving duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to count, verify, and inspect incoming and outgoing goods accurately.

  • Familiarity with shipping/receiving paperwork and warehouse procedures.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or inventory management software.

  • Understanding of hazardous materials handling and safety procedures.

  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with various departments.

  • Reliable transportation for commute.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • State motor vehicle operator’s permit for forklift operation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate a warehouse and access various storage spaces.

  • Lift up to 25 pounds safely.

  • Work in varying weather conditions and temperatures in warehouse and loading dock environments.
