Alternative Heat, a leading provider of innovative, sustainable, and prefabricated building services solutions across the UK and Europe, is looking for an experienced Site Manager to join our growing delivery team. With over 20 years of industry experience and a track record of delivering high-value energy centres and district heating projects, we are expanding our team to support our continuous growth.

Role Overview

As a Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects from early coordination through to successful handover. You’ll oversee a team of mechanical construction managers, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient delivery in line with client expectations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the on-site delivery team, including subcontractors and supervisors.

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of projects according to programme plans and targets.

  • Attend and represent Alternative Heat in site meetings (DABS, progress updates, risk reviews).

  • Coordinate construction activities ensuring current and correct drawings, specifications, and revisions are followed.

  • Monitor and control material and labour costs in line with project budgets.

  • Ensure all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures and RAMS are adhered to.

  • Liaise with clients, main contractors, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.

  • Prepare project programmes, track variations, manage claims, and report progress.

  • Oversee pressure testing, commissioning (SAT), and ensure documentation is completed to high standards.

  • Collaborate with the wider MEP and project management teams to ensure coordinated project execution.

  • Assist in the preparation of “as installed” drawings and O&M manuals.

  • Submit daily reports including completed works, roadblocks, and 4-week lookaheads.

Required Criteria

  • Proven experience in a similar Site Manager or Project Supervisor role.

  • Relevant site management qualifications (e.g., SMSTS/SSSTS).

  • Excellent knowledge of M&E installation regulations and industry standards.

  • Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project planning tools.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Trade background in mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Fieldview, 4Projects, and Excel.

  • Previous experience with mechanical and electrical contractors.

  • General construction knowledge across large-scale building projects.
