Exciting Opportunity: Join Us as a Site Supervisor

Are you an experienced Site Supervisor with a background in highways and infrastructure projects? We have an exciting opportunity for a NEC Supervisor to join our Consulting Highways team at Amey.

This permanent role is based in Staffordshire, but we welcome applications from qualified Site Supervisors across the region. You’ll be part of a dedicated team delivering highway improvement schemes for Staffordshire County Council through our well-established Infrastructure+ Partnership contract.

As a Site Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely, and to high-quality standards. You’ll work closely with contractors, engineers, and local authorities while mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities of the Site Supervisor

Site Management & Supervision

  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise highways improvement projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
  • Carry out NEC Supervisor duties in compliance with the NEC form of contract.
  • Conduct regular site visits to resolve construction issues and monitor progress.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work aligns with CDM 2015 regulations and health & safety best practices.
  • Attend and enforce toolbox talks, safety briefings, and PPE compliance.
  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections as per contract requirements.

Technical Support & Quality Assurance

  • Provide technical guidance to contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Verify construction work is completed to specification, budget, and timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, ‘as-built’ details, and approvals.

Mentoring & Leadership

  • Support and mentor junior team members, apprentices, and engineers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the design team to resolve on-site challenges.

What You Need to Succeed as a Site Supervisor

  • Proven experience as a Site Supervisor in highways construction or civil engineering.
  • Recognized qualification in Highway or Civil Engineering (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of the NEC Form of Contract (Options A, C, E).
  • Knowledge of highways construction, the ‘White Book’ Specification for Highway Works.
  • CDM 2015 awareness and compliance experience.
  • CSCS Supervisor Card & SMSTS certification – essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving License – mandatory.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends if required.
  • Experience in traffic management, tool box talks, and safety training is desirable.
