African Ancestry Link (AAL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between Africans on the continent and the global diaspora. We empower individuals of African descent to rediscover their roots, improve their health, and foster a true sense of belonging. Our mission connects heritage, health, and home by expanding the African DNA database and uncovering valuable health insights through ancestry research.
Role Overview
As a Volunteer Social Media Manager, you will be the creative voice of AAL online, building connections and amplifying our mission through engaging content and digital community-building.
Responsibilities

Manage and grow AAL’s social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and more.

Create compelling, mission-driven content (graphics, posts, reels, stories).

Develop, schedule, and publish content that highlights AAL programs, events, and campaigns.

Engage with followers, respond to comments/messages, and foster an active online community.

Collaborate with team members to execute campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and outreach efforts.

Track analytics, monitor performance, and refine content strategies.
Qualifications

Strong understanding of major social media platforms and current trends.

Excellent written and visual communication skills.

Creativity, self-motivation, and attention to detail.

Passion for African heritage, cultural identity, and community empowerment.

Prior experience in content creation, digital marketing, or nonprofit communications (preferred, but not required).
