What You’ll Do: Head Chef at Smith Tower
The Essentials

Lead back-of-house (BOH) operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.

Implement and uphold culinary standards for food quality, presentation, and sanitation.

Maintain exceptional scores during health inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.

Collaborate with the GM and team daily to share updates, identify needs, and resolve challenges.

Supervise and support kitchen staff with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and development.

Monitor food and labor costs to stay within budget while maintaining top-quality standards.

Oversee weekly inventory checks and complete monthly reports before the 1st of each month.

Co-develop menus and innovate new dishes that align with the Smith Tower experience.

Manage catering operations for events ranging from 15 to 250 guests.

Ensure cleanliness, readiness, and food safety in all prep areas.

Train staff on recipe adherence and kitchen consistency.

Order supplies, manage product inventories, and maintain quality control over deliveries.

Oversee grooming and hygiene standards across the kitchen team.

Support daily kitchen opening and closing in partnership with the Lead Cook.

Carry out additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.
What You Bring to the Table

Experience: Culinary degree or equivalent experience with 7+ years in the industry and at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; tactful and professional.

Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of employment laws and kitchen compliance requirements.

Problem Solving: Ability to assess issues quickly and implement effective solutions.

Tech Savvy: Comfortable with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

People Skills: A natural leader with a passion for mentoring teams and delivering amazing guest experiences.

Dependability: Punctual, detail-oriented, and organized.

Certification: Valid WA State Food Handler’s Card and MAST Permit required.
