Your Role: Sous Chef

What You’ll Do

Operational Excellence & Team Leadership

  • Lead daily kitchen operations and ensure a positive, safe, and productive back-of-house environment

  • Set and uphold high standards for culinary quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety

  • Communicate daily with the General Manager and team to align on updates and priorities

  • Address guest and client requests professionally and efficiently

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor kitchen staff to foster engagement and growth

Efficiency & Cost Management

  • Monitor food and labor costs to meet budget goals

  • Maintain weekly inventory, storage, rotation, cleanliness, and sanitation practices

  • Complete month-end inventory by the 1st of each month prior to observatory opening

  • Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving processes to ensure accurate stock levels

Culinary Creativity & Event Expertise

  • Collaborate on menu development and execute innovative, high-quality dishes

  • Oversee catering for groups of 15–250 guests, ensuring exceptional food quality and visual presentation

  • Create standardized recipes and train team members for consistency and excellence

Operations & Standards

  • Maintain full kitchen readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with King County health regulations

  • Uphold grooming, safety, and sanitation standards across the team

  • Oversee and ensure completion of all opening and closing duties with Lead Cook

Other responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership


What You Bring

  • Experience: 7+ years in culinary roles, with 2+ years in a leadership position; high-volume restaurant or banquet background preferred

  • Education: Culinary degree or equivalent industry training

  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Tech Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant culinary software

  • Adaptability: Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills

  • Certifications: Valid Washington State Food Handler’s License and MAST Permit
