About the Job
The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Missouri at Atlanta, a tuition-free K–10 online public school, is looking for passionate Special Education Teachers who are committed to providing individualized, high-quality education to every student. At VPA Missouri, learning happens through innovative online tools designed to help each student reach their fullest potential — at their own pace and in their own space.
Key Responsibilities

Implement and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each assigned student.

Write, update, and maintain IEPs and required documentation in compliance with federal, state, and local mandates.

Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Provide 1:1, small group, and whole-class instruction as needed.

Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP goals.

Administer Transition Assessments and standardized evaluations.
-
Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.

Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.

Provide resources and support for classroom teachers working with students with disabilities.

Ensure compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) requirements.
About You

Education: Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching experience (at least 2 years in special education).

Certification: Current Missouri certification/licensure in Special Education.

Strong understanding of state standards, proficiency testing, and MTSS processes.

Skilled in data analysis, lesson planning, and student progress tracking.

Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for teaching diverse learners.

Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office, and IDEA compliance software (e.g., PowerSchool Special Programs).

Ability to travel occasionally within Missouri and pass required background checks.

Familiarity with co-teaching models and collaborative instruction strategies.
