Are you a GMC-registered Ophthalmologist looking for the right team to support your journey towards CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration)? Join the Ophthalmology team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, where we are committed to delivering outstanding, high-quality eye care to our patients.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to develop your clinical expertise while receiving dedicated support to complete your CESR pathway. You will work across multiple sites within the Trust, gaining a rich and varied experience across a range of sub-specialties in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
You will rotate through a wide range of clinical and professional duties, including:

Acute Ophthalmology Clinics in the Eye Emergency Department (EED)

Inpatient ward referrals (including cross-site work)
-
Surgical theatre sessions
-
Laser, injection, and minor procedures
-
Specialist and general ophthalmology clinics
-
Virtual clinics and telemedicine
-
Clinical administration and patient management
-
Non-DCC (Direct Clinical Care) and SPA (Supporting Professional Activities), including audit, research, and teaching
What We’re Looking For

GMC registration (full license to practice in the UK)

Passed Part 1 FRCOphth and Refraction Certificate

A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented individual

Strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care

Interest in teaching, quality improvement, and audit

Willingness to work across Trust sites and adapt to service needs
