About the Role

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust invites applications for a Specialty Doctor in General Radiology. This full-time fixed-term post (12 months) offers the opportunity to work within a highly regarded and forward-thinking radiology department, serving a large and diverse patient population across Buckinghamshire.

Based primarily at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the successful candidate will also provide support at other Trust sites including Wycombe and Amersham as needed.

This is a general radiology post with opportunities to pursue and develop a specialist interest, contribute to registrar supervision, and engage in minor interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic support across general radiology and cross-sectional imaging

  • Participate in hot and cold reporting duties, urgent inpatient cases, and general radiology workload

  • Undertake ultrasound lists, including both specialist and general studies

  • Perform minor interventional procedures such as chest and ascitic drainages

  • Supervise and teach radiology trainees and IR Fellows from the Oxford Deanery

  • Contribute to the development of radiology services and subspecialty pathways

  • Participate in departmental audits, MDTs, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Support development towards CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration)

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

  • Relevant experience in general and cross-sectional radiology

  • Competency in minor interventional procedures

  • Strong communication and team-working skills

  • Commitment to maintaining and developing general radiology skills

Desirable:

  • Interest or experience in developing a subspecialty area

  • Experience with registrar supervision or teaching

  • Involvement in research, audit or QI projects

  • Willingness to support CESR application pathway
