Major Responsibilities

Interpret physician referrals and perform evaluations for patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and functional goals.

Monitor and adjust treatment as needed, updating physicians and care teams on patient progress.

Address patients’ physical and psychosocial comfort needs.

Plan and facilitate patient discharge, including home programs, family education, and community referrals.

Complete documentation per department policy, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Manage daily statistics, billing, scheduling, and insurance authorizations.

Maintain productivity standards and adhere to billing/documentation guidelines.
-
Keep treatment areas clean, orderly, and safe; follow all infection control measures.

Operate equipment and modalities safely, demonstrating knowledge of indications/contraindications.
-
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department meetings.
-
Assist in coverage planning based on departmental and regional needs.
-
Engage in professional development through continuing education and mentoring.
-
Supervise non-licensed personnel and students per regulations.
Minimum Requirements
-
Education: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent per graduation date; continuing education as required.

Licensure/Certification:
-
State Speech-Language Pathologist License
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (within 90 days unless exempt)

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY-eligible

Experience: No prior experience required.

Ability to assess and treat patients across the lifespan

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform patient transfers with assistance

Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling tasks

Exposure to electrical/chemical hazards and bodily fluids; PPE required
