Opportunity: Senior Accountant – Drive Financial Excellence in Medical Innovation (Hybrid, San Mateo, CA)
Join Route 92 Medical’s growing accounting and finance team as a Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. You’ll be central to our financial reporting process, ensuring accurate month-end close and gaining opportunities to lead impactful accounting projects like internal controls and process optimization.
Collaborate with various internal teams (Manufacturing, Sales, HR, Legal, Finance) in this hybrid role based in our San Mateo, CA office (2 days in-office, 3 days remote).
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare thorough account reconciliations, bridges, roll-forwards, and journal entries.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, SOX controls, and US GAAP.
- Manage the complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Play an active role in the annual financial statement audit, providing necessary data to external auditors.
- Identify and implement process improvements and best practices, including new policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For (Preferred):
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or active CPA license.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive business information.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on month-end close, financial reporting, and annual audits.
- “Big 4” accounting experience (highly desirable).
- Proven proficiency with a major accounting ERP system (Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, etc.).
- Solid understanding of fundamental finance, accounting, and bookkeeping principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formula and pivot table skills).
- Experience in leading and implementing process improvements.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in Biotechnology, Medical Devices, or related industries.
- Experience working for a startup that underwent an IPO or acquisition.
- Strong general ledger experience in a public company setting with expertise in various technical accounting areas.
- Experience working with “Big 4” auditors in a startup environment and assisting with audit data compilation.
