Who You Are:

As a Senior Accountant, you will be a vital part of our growing accounting team, overseeing the general ledger accounting close process for areas including fixed assets, leases, and G&A accruals. Reporting to the Associate Director of Accounting, this individual contributor role requires proactive engagement with various business units and external parties. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment, is highly organized, results-oriented, analytical, detail-oriented, possesses excellent communication skills, and is highly motivated to consistently deliver exceptional work.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly closing of assigned general ledger (GL) accounts, including long-debt, royalty obligations, embedded derivative liability, software capitalization (ASC 350-40), G&A prepayments and accruals, lease accounting (ASC 842), and fixed assets.
  • Prepare detailed monthly accounting close workpapers and analyses for assigned GL accounts to ensure accurate and timely recognition of expenses, prepayments, deposits, and accrual accounts.
  • Review new PO contracts to ensure proper accounting for expenses, prepaids, and accruals.
  • Prepare journal entries and related supporting documentation in adherence to quality and compliance standards.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for assigned accounts.
  • Prepare rollforward and tie-out schedules for assigned 10Q/10K footnote disclosures and other ad hoc analyses.
  • Prepare fluctuation analyses on assigned GL accounts.
  • Maintain amortization schedules for royalty and lease obligations.
  • Collaborate with key contacts in other business units to manage prepayment and accrual processes, including meetings and resolving outstanding items.
  • Prepare audit and tax requested schedules and confirmations, and address follow-up items.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements by executing control procedures and maintaining SOX-compliant workpaper documentation; prepare data and analysis for external audit, internal control, and SOX testing.
  • Collaborate and assist other accounting team members as needed.

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a publicly traded company (Big 4 or similar SEC client experience combined with industry experience highly preferred).
  • Biotech experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong work ethic with sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-oriented and detail-oriented with a focus on process improvement.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
