Opportunity: Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting at Couchbase

At Couchbase, you’ll tackle exciting challenges, expand your skills, and collaborate with industry-leading experts. We’re seeking a talented and energetic Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, to join our growing team. This key role will support our SEC reporting process, prepare cash flow statements, statements of stockholders’ equity, and EPS calculations. You will also collaborate with the Manager, Financial Reporting on technical accounting memos and analyses related to business transactions and new accounting pronouncements. This position involves working closely with the broader Finance & Accounting group, Legal, Stock Administration, and other stakeholders across the organization.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Qs, etc.), including financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, disclosure checklists, supporting schedules, documentation, and XBRL tagging.
- Review earnings releases and other public-facing documents, contributing to the development and validation of key metrics and investor presentations.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements, including statements of cash flows, shareholders’ equity, and EPS.
- Assist in researching, assessing, and implementing complex accounting issues and new pronouncements, analyzing their impact on operational and financial performance and disclosure requirements.
- Contribute to the development and management of accounting policies (GAAP & non-GAAP), including technical guidance analysis and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely resolution of technical accounting matters, SOX testing, quarterly reviews, and annual audits.
- Support the Company’s SOX compliance efforts related to financial reporting.
- Assist with stock-based compensation accounting in accordance with ASC 718.
- Partner with the international accounting team on statutory audits.
- Coordinate with Legal, Accounting, and other teams on periodic and ad hoc financial reporting requests.
- Conduct industry benchmark studies and develop recommendations.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance with CPA license required.
- 3+ years of public accounting and/or private industry experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with NetSuite, Workiva, and Equity Edge Online is a plus.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with management and other teams, taking ownership of projects and deadlines.
- Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
The anticipated starting base pay range for this role is $103,000—$121,000 USD. Our total rewards package includes base salary, potential for bonus, commissions, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on various factors including skills, experience, and work location.
