    Key Responsibilities

    • Support Accounting Managers in driving the Month-End Close process for multiple entities.
    • Participate in and, at times, oversee daily accounting tasks.
    • Prepare and review ledger entries and accruals, with a focus on cultivated and manufactured inventory and related production costs.
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of assigned balance sheet and profit/loss accounts, including monthly reconciliations.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to enhance accounting processes related to cost of production, ensuring control, accountability, and efficiency.
    • Conduct ad hoc analysis and special projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system (Epicor/Wherefour).
    • Work closely with Accounting Managers, Controllers, Parent Company Accounting Group, external auditors, and tax accountants to support financial reporting and regulatory requirements.

    Inventory Valuation & Management

    • Analyze and collect data on costs related to raw material purchases, labor, and overhead expenditures that impact financial operations.
    • Review and provide insights on manufacturing cost variances (e.g., Purchase Price Variance (PPV), Material Usage Variance, Labor Rate and Usage Variances, Overhead Spending Variances).
    • Estimate costs for new and proposed products or services and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
    • Provide management reports and analysis on manufacturing efficiency, comparing key profitability factors.
    • Evaluate the impact of changes in product packaging, raw materials, and manufacturing methods on costs.
    • Propose inventory optimizations and drive continuous improvement programs to reduce product costs in collaboration with Operations.
    • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes, ensuring journal entries and financial analyses are completed accurately and on time.
    • Assist in preparing operating budgets, including material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
    • Set up and update standard cost structures, ensuring accuracy in purchasing costs, routings, bills of materials, and labor rates.
    • Design and implement inventory management controls, ensuring accuracy in inventory valuation, balance sheet reserves, and procurement processes.
    • Monitor and enhance the cost accounting system, making recommendations for improved efficiency.

    Experience & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting (CPA preferred). A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or CMA certification is a plus.
    • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in both public and corporate accounting.
    • Manufacturing and Cost Accounting experience required.
    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it relates to inventory accounting.
    • Experience in accounts payable, accruals, reserves, and inventory valuation.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, retail sales operations, sales and use tax, and public company audit compliance.
    • Experience working in a highly computerized environment with ERP/accounting software (Epicor and Wherefour experience preferred).
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Self-starter with a focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership of work.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across multiple departments and levels.
