Position Overview: Data Scientist

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to develop and support cutting-edge analytic solutions that address complex challenges across McKesson’s business units, including Finance, Operations, Accounting, and Supply Chain. This role will closely partner with teams such as Treasury, FP&A, and Pricing to deliver predictive insights and optimize business outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

Analytical & Technical Duties:

  • Design, develop, and deploy predictive models for pricing analysis and trend forecasting.

  • Apply machine learning algorithms to optimize pricing strategies and business performance.

  • Build advanced time series models using techniques like SARIMA, Prophet, Holt-Winters, and Transformers.

  • Create statistical simulation and decision frameworks to support strategic planning.

  • Architect and implement automated, driverless forecasting systems aligned with best practices in data science.

  • Lead production deployment and DevOps of models using modern cloud and open-source tools.

  • Design frameworks for model variance analysis and impact measurement.

Stakeholder & Business Collaboration:

  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and support adoption.

  • Translate complex technical findings into actionable business insights.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with business units to support ongoing analytic initiatives.

  • Identify new opportunities to apply data science for improved decision-making.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related STEM field required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or software development within a business context.


Required Skills

  • Strong end-to-end data science capabilities—from data wrangling and exploration to model deployment and business communication.

  • Proficient in Python or R for statistical programming and machine learning.

  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts including linear regression, A/B testing, distributions, and hypothesis testing.

  • Skilled in object-oriented programming (e.g., Python, Java, C#, VBA).

  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks).

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical audiences.


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.

  • Prior experience working with enterprise systems such as SAP or JD Edwards.

  • Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling and dashboarding.

  • Team-oriented with strong analytical and process-thinking capabilities.
