Job Description: Finance Lead

The Finance Lead will be instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of the Communications Systems segment’s investment portfolio, focusing on business case analysis and profitability assessments. This role requires a highly analytical, proactive, and collaborative professional who can navigate uncertainty and ambiguity while effectively influencing stakeholders across different functional areas and reporting structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and Capital financial planning for the Communications Systems Segment.

  • Partner with senior leadership to ensure organizational alignment regarding the investment portfolio.

  • Develop and analyze financial models and business cases for IRAD, Capital, and other ad hoc requests.

  • Review and provide guidance on Capital requests exceeding $250K for executive approval.

  • Support the CS Strategy Development function and L3H Technology Office, ensuring clear communication on plans, projects, and actions.

  • Evaluate financial performance against key business metrics and provide insights to assess progress toward strategic goals.

  • Enhance dashboard reporting, analyze results, and present key findings to support leadership in decision-making.

  • Manage a rotating finance resource as part of the Finance Leadership Development Program.

  • Work closely with divisional finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting and effective allocation of investment funds for both IRAD and Capital.

  • Serve as the expert point of contact for the IRAD financial database, offering execution guidance, training, and ongoing template development.

  • Participate in monthly financial reviews for Communications Systems.

  • Lead and support ad hoc FP&A projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field with 12+ years of experience, OR

  • Graduate degree in Finance or Business Administration with 10+ years of experience, OR

  • 16+ years of finance experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Power BI dashboards, including development and optimization.

  • Expertise in financial modeling using Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills with a proactive and independent approach.

  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

  • High motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.

  • Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines and deliver results.
