The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) is seeking a Senior Medical Biller to join our Central Business Office team. This is a full-time, remote opportunity where you will play a key role in billing operations, quality control, and ensuring accurate financial processes that support our mission of delivering world-class patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Core Functions

Assist management with training new staff and supporting team development.

Run and monitor weekly account reports to maintain accuracy and minimize outstanding balances.

Verify claims, ensure edits are corrected and released in a timely manner, and report monthly billing-area edits to management.

Ensure all billing controls are followed to prevent missed charges.

Oversee payment reconciliation processes at clinics.

Enter all charges and review encounters for completeness and accuracy.

Correct inaccurate vouchers and reconcile voucher reports daily.

Safeguard University assets by following policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Department-Specific Duties

Review and release physician charges from assigned WQs.

Verify patient demographic, guarantor, insurance, and managed care authorization information.

Run insurance eligibility checks and resolve registration issues.

Enter paper vouchers for missing charges and fix rejected/erroneous charges.

Distribute patient payment credits and assign charges to cases and phases.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of medical billing or related experience required.

Skills & Knowledge:

Understanding of accounting procedures and principles.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Relevant education, certifications, or additional work experience may be considered in lieu of standard requirements.
