Your Opportunity
Abbott is seeking a Network Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Abbott Park (Corporate Office), IL, Columbus, OH, or Minneapolis, MN. This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting Abbott’s Global Network Services, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for our worldwide operations.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in enterprise network design, including data center networking, SD-WAN, firewalls, wireless access, load balancing, and security infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement large-scale enterprise WAN, SD-WAN, LAN, and WLAN solutions, including firewalls and network hardware.

Develop Data Center technologies like VXLAN and Cisco ACI.
-
Improve network monitoring and observability capabilities.
-
Manage core services such as DHCP, DNS, IP address management (IPAM), and load balancing.

Define budgetary requirements and recommend strategies to enhance performance and reduce costs.

Lead network refresh and expansion projects across Abbott’s global infrastructure.
-
Optimize network performance, security, and compliance with industry best practices.

Drive network automation initiatives to improve efficiency.
-
Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance.

Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance to stakeholders and end-users.

Maintain and update technical engineering documentation.

Expertise in network security, switching, routing, and TCP/IP fundamentals.

Qualifications & Experience
✅ Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
-
8+ years of experience in enterprise networking (5,000+ users).
-
Advanced expertise in network design, MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN, WLAN, Cisco ISE, and authentication solutions.
-
Experience with Cisco Routers & Switches, Network Topologies, Load Balancing, QoS, and Cisco ACI.
✅ Preferred:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Telecommunications.

Industry certifications (CISSP, CCNP, CCSE, CCIE).

Experience with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela), Check Point Firewalls, Citrix Netscaler, F5 Load Balancers, Zscaler, and network automation tools.

Familiarity with API-based automation, Splunk, ServiceNow, and cloud security solutions.

Experience in healthcare, regulated environments, or multilingual capabilities is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
💰 Base Salary Range: $97,300 – $194,700 (Location-dependent).
