Job Summary

As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for preparing, compounding, dispensing, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. This role involves both clinical expertise and operational oversight, including supervision of pharmacy technicians and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in maintaining high standards of care and supporting quality assurance efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process medication orders in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and safety standards.

  • Ensure optimal medication therapy, including appropriate indication, dosing, route, frequency, and allergy checks while avoiding drug interactions.

  • Provide oversight of USP 795/800 compounding practices and verify calculations, ingredients, and processes completed by technicians.

  • Conduct daily reviews and medication utilization reports to identify and support opportunities for improvement in medication safety and effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams through patient rounds, supporting emergency and critical care areas as needed.

  • Assist in purchasing, inventory control, and adherence to formulary requirements, with a focus on cost-efficiency and safety.

  • Recommend and participate in the development of new pharmacy initiatives and service enhancements.

  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practice and medication safety.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support optimal patient outcomes and operational efficiency.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy: Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy: Preferred

  • At least 2 years of technical pharmacy experience: Preferred

  • 2 years of experience in clinical or regulatory pharmacy: Preferred

  • 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid and current Pharmacist license in the state of California: Required

  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh): Required

  • All necessary state-level certifications and licensures for the scope of practice: Required
