About the Role – Staff Accountant (Reinsurance Accountant)
This role is responsible for reinsurance accounting and reporting, with a focus on Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPTs). The Staff Accountant ensures that all daily tasks related to reinsurance financial reporting, general ledger reconciliations, and stakeholder communications are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports and journal entries for month-end closing related to LPTs.
- Reconcile LPT programs, including bank reconciliations, monthly claims entries, loss run reconciliations, and funding of escrow imprest accounts.
- Maintain accurate general ledger balances through monthly reconciliations.
- Serve as the primary contact for various LPT programs, assisting with setup, maintenance, and closure.
- Collaborate with the claims and LPT departments to ensure proper recordkeeping.
- Adhere to monthly, quarterly, and annual close schedules, meeting all deadlines.
- Provide support for reinsurance-related functions as needed.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Accounting degree preferred).
- Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
- 1+ years of accounting experience.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and accurate in financial reporting.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship requirements now or in the future.
Preferred:
- Experience in reinsurance or related industries is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
