About the Role

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring financial information and customer AR balances are processed, reconciled, and analyzed accurately and on time. This supports both internal and external financial reporting and ensures compliance with SOX 404, GAAP, and SEC requirements.

This is a hybrid role at Boston Beer Company, requiring candidates to reside in Boston, MA or surrounding areas, with onsite work according to team schedules.

What You’ll Brew (Responsibilities)

Revenue Accounting

  • Process customer credits and inter-wholesaler billings

  • Post debit/credit entries for shipment discrepancies or damages

  • Reconcile product returns and deposit redemptions

  • Work with wholesalers on deposit liability accounts

  • Assist with cash application and month/quarter-end close

Financial Reporting

  • Support quarterly 10Q/10K reporting

  • Assist with monthly close administration and workflow improvements (AI integration)

  • Ensure SEC compliance for financial reporting

  • Develop strong technical accounting knowledge

Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Process/reconcile monthly capital activity, depreciation, disposals

  • Support semi-annual impairment reviews

  • Partner with engineering to capture brewery-level capital activity

  • Maintain audit support for capital compliance

Other

  • Participate in special projects (AI workflow development)

  • Support audit requests and compliance

  • Occasional travel as needed

What Ingredients You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 2+ years of recent accounting experience

  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, etc.)

  • Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple deadlines

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills

  • Ability to commute to the Boston office (3 days/week)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience

  • SAP ERP knowledge

  • Experience using AI-powered coding assistants

  • Salary Range: $59,500 – $106,600 (commensurate with experience and location)
