Company Overview
The Staff Accountant I (Hedge Funds) plays a key role in managing daily cash transactions and general ledger activities for client funds, preparing quarterly financial statements, and responding to inquiries from clients and investors. This role involves frequent collaboration with team members and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations (weekly or monthly) and generate cash composition reports.

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for management approval.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for management review.

  • Process basic capital calls and distributions, ensuring accuracy and timely preparation before management approval.

  • Address client and investor inquiries by preparing appropriate correspondence.

  • Process team wire transfers and fund transfers, subject to treasury approval and sign-off.

  • Contribute to special projects as needed.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and company developments through continuous learning opportunities, internal training, and professional development activities.

Problem-Solving and Administration:

  • Manage multiple tasks and internal demands effectively throughout the day.

  • Participate in educational opportunities and training to enhance job knowledge and skills.

  • Provide administrative support for various accounting and reporting needs.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, methods, and procedures, with the ability to apply sound judgment in decision-making.

  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to understand client needs and maintain strong relationships.

  • Motivated and dedicated to maintaining high standards of client service.

  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills, including coordinating tasks across team members as needed.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software systems.

  • Ability to assist team members with training, information sharing, and support.

  • Capable of performing moderately complex accounting tasks, preparing work papers, and assisting with financial reporting.

  • Strong research, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

  • An advanced degree (MBA or MSA) in Accounting or related field is highly desirable.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong multitasking, time management, attention to detail, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
