Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather clean, accurate data for analysis, reporting, and tracking, ensuring alignment with the Department of Neighborhood and City of Houston’s goals.

  • Curate high-quality, engaging data to support communication efforts and grant writing.

  • Investigate and propose solutions for issues of medium complexity and/or sensitivity.

  • Undertake special projects, addressing administrative, professional, management, and community issues of varying complexity.

  • Represent the supervisor at meetings to collect information and provide updates.

  • Prepare, edit, and revise department policy and procedure manuals, as well as respond to correspondence and requests for information as directed.

  • Analyze management practices and procedures, offering recommendations for improvement.

  • Negotiate solutions for problems of simple to medium complexity.

  • Participate in evaluating and designing workflow processes, operations systems, and other related systems.

  • Develop technological solutions and systems to facilitate data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement programs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • The work environment is physically comfortable, with discretion over walking, standing, etc.

  • No major discomforts, as it is a typical office setting with standard lighting, temperature, and air conditions.

  • Requires the ability to perform simple gross motor tasks within wide tolerances.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

    • A graduate degree may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience: At least three years of professional administrative, financial, or analytical experience related to the work.

    • Relevant professional experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

  • Licenses: None required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.

  • Strong project management skills, including working with cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for handling large datasets and generating reports.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • A passion for storytelling through data.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.

  • A valid driver’s license is a plus.
