About the Role

As a Data Scientist at Google, you’ll bring analytical rigor, business acumen, and technical expertise to support strategic decision-making across the Workspace product suite—including Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. With over 3 billion active users globally, Workspace is transforming how people work, communicate, and collaborate in a hybrid world.

In this role, you’ll partner with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to develop insights that shape product strategy and improve user experience. You will not only analyze complex data sets, but also craft compelling stories that influence key decisions across the organization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 7+ years of experience in statistical data analysis

  • 6+ years of experience conducting A/B tests and interpreting experimental results

  • 5+ years of experience in data mining, querying, and leading investigative projects

  • 3+ years of experience developing metrics or evaluating product/program performance


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Physics, Economics, or Engineering

  • 12+ years of experience solving business or product problems through statistical analysis and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL)

  • Strong leadership in cross-functional environments and experience mentoring or guiding teams


Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced data analyses using tools like SQL, Python, and R

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement, design experiments, and propose scalable solutions

  • Own and drive end-to-end data science projects—from defining problems and building metrics to communicating results to stakeholders

  • Build statistical models, visualize results, and translate complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Manage cross-functional project timelines, contribute to operational process improvements, and shape product strategy

  • Provide thought leadership and help mentor others in data science best practices

Compensation & Benefits

  • U.S. Base Salary Range: $183,000 – $271,000

  • Additional compensation may include: bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits

  • Final compensation is based on factors such as location, skills, experience, and education. Your recruiter will provide more specific information during the hiring process.
