Responsibilities:

  • Follow the vision and strategy for Medidata’s hosting network operations.

  • Manage Medidata’s customer-facing data communications systems.

  • Design, plan, implement, configure, and operate both local and wide-area network solutions across multiple platforms and protocols (including IP) within the hosting network infrastructure.

  • Ensure proper network monitoring and address alerts regarding network outages in a timely manner, meeting required SLAs.

  • Monitor network performance and ensure it stays within defined thresholds.

  • Support, troubleshoot, and resolve network-related issues.

  • Maintain high functionality and availability of VPN links, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and WAN links.

  • Investigate potential causes of network problems and develop test methodologies for validation.

  • Coordinate procurement, implementation, and troubleshooting efforts with vendors.

  • Lead network resource requirements for project implementations.

  • Plan projects, conduct cost analysis, and compare vendors.

  • Identify network configuration or performance issues and develop timely responses.

  • Create and maintain network support documentation, continuously improving processes and procedures.

  • Provide training and assist in proposal writing.

Your Competencies:

  • Experience designing scalable cloud and data center solutions using private/public cloud technologies and managing enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls, and F5 LTM/GTM.

  • Expertise in network security protocols, including firewalls, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation techniques.

  • Proficient in routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), VPN, and various firewall technologies and vendors.

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of external L2/L3 fabric connectivity and experience with L2/L3 switching architecture design.

  • Expertise in network virtualization.

  • In-depth knowledge of containerized networking and CNI plugins (e.g., Calico, Cilium).

  • Expertise in defining network policy and external connectivity to Kubernetes clusters.

  • Excellent knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM).

  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with Spine-Leaf architecture (e.g., Cisco Nexus- N9K or equivalent).

  • Experience with ingress/egress and service mesh (e.g., LinkerD, Istio) implementation and management.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers, QA, and project managers throughout the software lifecycle to deliver optimal, large-scale systems.

  • Provide 24/7 production support on a rotating basis.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of SD-WAN solution deployment.

  • Experience with L4-L7 load balancing, firewalls, etc. is a plus.

  • Expertise in configuring and deploying enterprise-class networks, including Cisco Nexus/Catalyst product lines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience conducting network assessments, including documentation and presentation of findings.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years of total experience, including at least 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

  • CCNP certification or equivalent required.

  • CCIE certification preferred.

  • At least 2+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, Ansible, or Go (preferred).

  • Experience supporting a 24/7 operational environment, requiring shift support.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary ranges are based on various factors, including job function, level, expertise, experience, and location.

    • New Jersey: $114,750 – $153,000 per year.

    • Texas: $101,250 – $135,000 per year.
