Qualtrics is looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead AI and machine learning initiatives across our enterprise Experience Management platform. As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will design and deploy advanced ML systems that personalize the Qualtrics experience, handle large-scale data, and enable AI-driven insights for 18K+ clients worldwide. This role is ideal for someone passionate about machine learning, generative AI, and building scalable, high-performance systems that transform customer experience. You will collaborate across teams to drive innovation, mentor peers, and ensure ML initiatives align with business objectives and deliver measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities – Staff Machine Learning Engineer

  • Design and implement robust AI architectures, frameworks, and algorithms for enterprise-scale ML applications.

  • Evaluate and select AI technologies, tools, and frameworks to maximize model performance, accuracy, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with research scientists, engineers, and product managers to guide ML strategy and deployment.

  • Lead development, deployment, and optimization of ML systems for performance, efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to ML platform teams while maintaining best practices in machine learning and deep learning.

  • Conduct code reviews and document AI architectures, design decisions, and technical specifications.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AI advancements and integrate new methods into the organization’s ML systems.

Qualifications – Staff Machine Learning Engineer

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role.

  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++, and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deploying AI models in production.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex challenges into actionable solutions.

  • Knowledge of deploying and optimizing large language models (LLMs) with tools like DeepSpeed, Accelerate, FasterTransformer, or Transformers-NeuronX is a plus.

  • Understanding of ethical AI practices and responsible AI implementation is preferred.

Team & Culture
You will join the Data Intelligence Platform (DIP) team within Qualtrics’ Data Intelligence Center of Excellence (DICE). DIP focuses on enabling ML and AI adoption across products through reusable components, patterns, and best practices. The team fosters collaboration, mentorship, and cross-functional learning to accelerate innovation.

Salary & Location

  • Washington State Annual Pay Range: $208,000—$298,500 USD.

  • Base pay may vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications. Sign-on bonuses and stock options may be included.
