About the Team
The Location Platform Team powers Life360’s core — delivering fast, accurate, and reliable location data for millions of users. The team builds scalable systems that collect, process, and enhance location and sensor data, enabling seamless app experiences and new product innovations.
About the Role
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will design and lead the intelligence layer of Life360’s location platform. Your work will directly impact how users experience real-time location insights, from alerting and sharing to mobility tracking. This hands-on technical role involves collaborating with Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams to develop scalable ML solutions that enhance safety, trust, and usability across Life360’s platform.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement end-to-end ML systems for movement and context understanding (e.g., destination inference, anomaly detection).

Partner with Data Science to convert research into production-ready models.

Develop ML pipelines for data ingestion, training, deployment, and real-time inference.

Integrate ML models into user-facing features that enhance clarity and safety.

Oversee model performance, drift detection, and continuous optimization.

Contribute to system architecture and guide long-term ML strategy.

Mentor peers to strengthen Life360’s ML engineering practices.
Requirements

8+ years of experience building and deploying ML-powered systems.

Expertise in Python, software engineering, and ML algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning).

Skilled in big data tools (Spark, Hadoop) and ML Ops (Docker, Kubernetes, SageMaker, MLflow).

Strong understanding of distributed systems, low-latency architectures, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Proficiency in A/B testing, model validation, and ethical AI practices.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits

US Salary Range: $175,500–$258,500 USD

Canada Salary Range: $197,500–$233,500 CAD
