Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate is responsible for the following functions, along with any additional duties as assigned:

  1. Ensure Prescription Accuracy: Conduct Drug Utilization Reviews and Final Quality Assurance checks to verify the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions, in compliance with state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.

  2. Drive Business Growth: Foster script and business growth by promoting clinical programs, including immunizations, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Diabetes Care Specialist (DCS) services, and any other relevant programs.

  3. Provide Excellent Customer Service: Assist customers with medical inquiries and offer healthcare counseling to ensure a positive experience.

  4. Supervise Pharmacy Staff: Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians and support staff while on duty.

  5. Training and Leadership: Assist the Pharmacy Manager in training, coaching, and managing Pharmacy associates.

  6. Assume Management Role: Take on management responsibilities for the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.

  7. Ensure Security: Maintain the security of the Pharmacy department at all times.

  8. Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all relevant federal and state laws and regulations.

  9. Resolve Customer Issues: Handle customer complaints and inquiries to ensure satisfaction and build trust and loyalty.

  10. Collaborate with Physicians: Communicate with physicians and use reference materials to gather information on prescriptions and resolve issues.

  11. Maintain Pharmacy Organization: Help keep the Pharmacy department organized and clean.

  12. Task Prioritization: Prioritize tasks within the Pharmacy Department, ensuring all duties—such as inventory management, cycle counts, and customer follow-ups—are completed in a timely manner.


Compensation

The typical starting pay range for this position is between $64.00 – $73.75 per hour. Note that the base pay is a guideline, and total compensation will vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, and work location. Supervisory Responsibilities

This role includes supervising Pharmacy Technicians and Cashiers, as well as managing supervisory duties in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, disciplining associates, evaluating performance, and resolving complaints.


Qualification Requirements

To succeed in this role, the associate must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are required:

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (Pharm.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy

  • Certification: Immunization Certification from an accredited organization (e.g., APhA)
