Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Leader, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications in accordance with prescriptions and medication orders from licensed providers. As a key member of the hospital medical staff, the pharmacist provides expert guidance on medications, ensures patient safety, and supports all patient populations — from neonates to geriatrics.
Staff Pharmacists perform duties ethically and professionally across all shifts, contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment focused on excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities

Dispense medications accurately in compliance with physician orders and regulatory standards.

Provide drug information and guidance to healthcare professionals and patients.

Maintain accurate medication records and verify prescription details.

Monitor drug therapies to prevent interactions and ensure safety.

Support the pharmacy team in delivering high-quality service across all shifts.

Serve patients in all age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Qualifications
Education:

Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy.

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Experience:

Six (6) months of hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
