Position Overview
The Store Accounting Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate store-level accounting functions. This includes posting sales, processing invoices, managing deposits, cash accountability, accounts payable/receivable, and select inventory procedures. The role also emphasizes friendly customer service, upholding Hy-Vee’s values in every interaction.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers (Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home), and Lead Store Accounting Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
-
Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly service in every customer interaction.

Greet customers warmly and assist by:
-
Escorting to products, retrieving items, and loading/unloading heavy goods.
-
Listening to customer suggestions and passing them along.
-
Answering phones promptly with helpful service.
-
Accounting & Financial Duties
-
Verify registers, count safes, balance sales reports, and reconcile deposits.
-
Scan checks, balance cash/checks, and prepare daily bank deposits.
-
Distribute and review sales ledgers and accountability reports.
-
Reconcile invoices, EFT transactions, accounts receivable, and third-party accounts (e.g., pharmacy, FTD/Teleflora).

Maintain accurate daily, monthly, and year-end financial reporting.

Support corporate payroll functions when required (time-clock edits, new hires, terminations, wage adjustments).
-
Collect on past-due accounts and bad checks, contacting customers as needed.
Additional Duties

Assist in inventory and reconciliation processes.

Prepare invoices and unpaid reports for corporate.

Maintain strict confidentiality of financial data, wages, and security codes.

Follow company policies, store guidelines, and dress standards.

Support other store departments as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through variable processes.

Competence in arithmetic (fractions, decimals, percentages).

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Proficiency in record-keeping, data entry, and filing.

Strong communication skills for guiding and assisting others.
Education & Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent.

6 months to 1 year of related accounting or retail experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform medium work (lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly).

Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, and perform repetitive motions.

Visual and auditory abilities required, including color vision and depth perception.
