Are you a people-focused professional with a passion for student support? We’re hiring a Student and Library Services Adviser to join our dynamic help desk team at ARU Writtle. As a Student and Library Services Adviser, you’ll provide guidance across a range of student services, library resources, and IT support. This part-time position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills and a background in customer service or higher education.
Student and Library Services Adviser – Your Role at ARU Writtle
Joining the newly launched Student and Library Services help desk, you’ll be the first point of contact for a wide range of student needs. In this Student and Library Services Adviser role, you’ll:

Offer support via phone, email, and face-to-face interaction

Help students navigate library systems, IT queries, and study spaces

Explain complex university policies and procedures in a student-friendly manner

Signpost to teams such as wellbeing, academic support, money advice, and employability services

Maintain calm and empathy when supporting students in distress
This position requires someone who can build trust quickly while managing administrative tasks with precision.
Student and Library Services Adviser – What We’re Looking For
To thrive as a Student and Library Services Adviser, you should bring:

Two A Levels or an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent qualification)

Experience in a customer service environment

Confidence using complex information systems and Microsoft Office

A proactive attitude, excellent listening skills, and attention to detail
Desirable: experience in a library or student services setting within higher or further education.
