Due to growing demand, Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) is seeking caring, adaptable and passionate individuals to join our high-performing Learner Support Team as Student Support Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them succeed in their education journey.

Role Overview

As a Student Support Assistant, you will work directly with learners aged 16–19 (and some adults), providing tailored in-class support. Your focus will be to help students with learning difficulties, disabilities, or differences achieve their academic goals. Support is typically offered on a 1:1 basis, but may also include 1:2 or 1:3 depending on the student needs.

This is a term-time only position, giving you the flexibility to choose:

  • Full-time or part-time (minimum 15 hours per week)

  • Choice of working days

  • Daily start times between 8:30am and 9:30am

  • End times between 3:30pm and 5:00pm

Hourly-paid sessional opportunities are also available for those needing additional flexibility.

No Prior Experience? No Problem!

While formal qualifications aren’t required, you must have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, and a strong desire to support students with diverse educational needs. Full training will be provided, and shortlisted applicants will be invited to shadow the role, allowing you to see the work in action before committing.
