Purpose Statement

The Teacher Aide (CTE) provides support to the Career & Technical Education department by assisting students and teachers in labs and classrooms, preparing instructional materials, maintaining equipment and inventory, and ensuring a safe, organized learning environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist students and staff with events (set-up, supervision, sales, service, clean-up).

  • Support CTE lab classes (set-up, clean-up, take down) to ensure classroom readiness.

  • Help students during the school day by re-teaching, answering questions, and reinforcing lessons.

  • Maintain classroom equipment, work areas, files, and records for safety and organization.

  • Order, track, and manage supplies, food, and materials.

  • Prepare labs daily by setting up, cleaning, and readying equipment.

  • Respond to emergencies (injuries, conflicts) to resolve safety concerns.

Other Functions

  • Attend meetings and professional development to enhance job knowledge.

  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, or field trips to maintain discipline and safety.

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support effective department operations.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses: Educator License with Stipulations – Paraprofessional endorsement or higher.

Skills

  • Safety practices in labs (wood/machine shop, auto, screen printing, culinary, preschool).

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoDesk Suite, Microsoft Office.

  • Accurate record-keeping, inventory management, food shopping/costing.

Knowledge

  • Health and safety standards.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal).

  • Time management, initiative, and sound judgment.

Abilities

  • Schedule activities, manage data, and use lab/classroom equipment.

  • Work flexibly with teachers and students.

  • Solve problems and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Collaborate with diverse groups and manage interruptions.

Working Environment

  • Physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity.

  • Work balance: 34% sitting, 33% walking, 33% standing.

  • Clean environment with minimal temperature changes.
