Position Overview
The Teacher Assistant supports the educational, behavioral, and daily living needs of students with autism. Working under the supervision of the Head Teacher, this role involves implementing Individual Education Programs (IEPs), assisting with community-based job training, and helping students develop critical life and social skills.
Key Responsibilities

Implement IEP-based lessons and activities in classroom, school, and community settings

Supervise and job-coach students at community-based employment sites

Transport students in League School vans as needed

Act as liaison between employers and the Vocational Coordinator

Assist in curriculum development, behavior strategies, and daily living-skill instruction

Collect and record data on student performance and behavior

Support behavior intervention programs, including positive reinforcement and structured strategies

Complete required documentation (parent notes, incident/accident reports, etc.)

Monitor student health and safety in collaboration with the School Nurse

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and program events

Participate in professional development, including Safety Care, CPR, and First Aid training (provided by League School)
Qualifications

Associate’s degree or specialized training in a related field preferred

Experience working with individuals with autism or in special education settings strongly preferred
-
Para-professional, Teacher’s Aide, or similar experience is a plus
-
Valid driver’s license required

Must pass CORI background check
-
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Internet Explorer)
