About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher Gardener to join our vibrant school community. In this unique role, you will lead hands-on gardening sessions for pupils, support the development and maintenance of the school garden, and play a pivotal part in laying the foundations for a future market garden.
Your work will inspire children to connect with nature, understand sustainability, and develop practical food-growing skills — enriching their personal growth and environmental awareness.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for education, gardening, and sustainability who enjoys working directly with children and making a real impact on their understanding of the natural world.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging gardening lessons and workshops for children

Develop and manage the school garden space, maintaining it as a vibrant and productive environment

Work toward the long-term goal of establishing a school-led market garden

Collaborate with teaching staff to align gardening activities with the wider curriculum

Encourage pupil participation, creativity, and environmental responsibility

Ensure safety protocols are followed and pupils are supervised during outdoor activities

Promote sustainability and ecological awareness across the school community
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

Passionate about gardening, nature, and environmental education

Confident in leading outdoor sessions and working with children of various ages

Skilled in garden planning, planting, and maintenance throughout the seasons

Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently

A positive role model who can inspire curiosity and responsibility in young learners

Previous teaching experience (formal or informal) and/or horticultural qualifications are desirable

Must be able to pass Enhanced DBS and social media screening as part of our safeguarding protocols
