Position Overview
Monongalia County Schools is accepting applications for a Social Studies Teacher at University High School for the 2025–2026 academic year. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about inspiring students, fostering critical thinking, and helping learners understand the historical, cultural, political, and social contexts of the world.
The selected candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging Social Studies instruction to high school students. The role requires a valid West Virginia Certification in Social Studies (5–Adult) and a commitment to maintaining high standards of academic excellence while supporting the diverse learning needs of students.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards for Social Studies.

Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student growth.

Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.

Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance instruction.

Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and staff to support student success.

Participate in professional development activities and school community events.

Qualifications

Valid West Virginia Certification in Social Studies (5–Adult) required.
