We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our specialist autism provision at Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy (OQMA). This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a nurturing, autism-specific school that focuses on developing social communication, sensory regulation, and emotional growth for every child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism in their learning, social development, and independence.

  • Assist with daily activities including play, lunchtimes, swimming, and educational visits.

  • Help manage sensory and emotional regulation using positive autism-informed strategies.

  • Collaborate with class staff, therapists, and parents to deliver holistic support.

  • Prepare engaging classroom materials and create a safe, inclusive environment.

  • Support with personal care, hygiene, and medical needs where required (training provided).

  • Celebrate progress—no matter how small—every step of the way.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent in English and Maths.

  • Experience working with children, especially those with autism or additional needs.

  • Calm, compassionate, and patient approach.

  • Excellent communication and adaptability.

  • Willingness to undertake further training.

Desirable:

  • Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or working towards it).

  • Knowledge of autism, sensory processing, or therapeutic education approaches.
