Position Overview:
The Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting educational programming in a juvenile correctional facility. You will supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the primary teacher and ensure instructional continuity, behavioral monitoring, and student engagement. Reporting directly to the School Principal, you will be a key contributor to academic support and the overall learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Supervision & Student Support

Monitor attendance, behavior, and daily progress records

Assist students with completing teacher-assigned work

Provide instructional support in coordination with faculty
Facility & Safety Compliance

Follow protocols during critical incidents (e.g., preventing injury or escape)

Maintain confidentiality of student and institutional information

Operate all relevant classroom and facility equipment
Reporting & Collaboration

Write reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams

Attend faculty and professional development meetings

Collaborate across departments to foster a strong educational environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Ability to implement lesson plans, maintain classroom order, and support students
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to complete required training and pass drug testing
Capacity to work independently and accept feedback
Willingness to maintain a professional and positive image
