Join Our Team of Teaching Assistants at Oasis Academy Brightstowe
We are recruiting four Teaching Assistants to support high-quality education and pastoral care at Oasis Academy Brightstowe in Shirehampton. Starting in September 2025 (or earlier if available), these full-time, term-time-only roles (37 hours/week) offer the opportunity to work alongside passionate staff in transforming students’ learning experiences.
As part of the support team, you’ll help break down learning barriers, provide targeted interventions, and build strong relationships with students. This role involves assisting teachers, preparing classroom resources, and providing consistent emotional and academic support to students—especially those with SEND or English as an additional language.
Key Responsibilities for Teaching Assistants
As one of our Teaching Assistants, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting classroom instruction by delivering adapted learning activities in small groups or one-on-one

Helping plan and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to teachers

Providing direct support to students with SEND or EAL backgrounds

Creating and managing engaging learning environments

Contributing to EHCPs and student support plans

Supporting students’ wellbeing, behavior, and independence

Assisting in the personal development of students, including social and emotional needs
What We’re Looking for in Our Teaching Assistants
Ideal candidates for our Teaching Assistants roles will:

Have GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A*–C / 9–4) or equivalent

Hold a Level 2 (or higher) Teaching Assistant qualification
-
Bring experience working with children in educational settings, especially supporting SEND or intervention delivery

Understand inclusive education and safeguarding practices
-
Be calm, organized, empathetic, and a confident communicator
