Job Responsibilities
As a Trades Generalist, you will perform journey-level work in a primary trade while also handling skilled and semi-skilled tasks across multiple trades for facility and equipment repair and maintenance. This role may also involve supervising staff in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction projects.
Key Duties:
- Apply expertise in one or more trades, including mechanical (HVAC), carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and locksmithing.
- Provide field supervision to staff engaged in facility maintenance and construction.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, project plans, and schedules to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Utilize methods, materials, tools, and equipment relevant to assigned trades.
- Work independently as needed and perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
- Operate ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and work in confined spaces as required.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the relevant trade(s).
- Knowledge of applicable standards, plumbing, and electrical codes.
- Understanding of facility rules and regulations concerning state wards.
- Ability to use trade-related tools and machinery effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving issues.
- Capability to train, supervise, and guide other staff members.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Competency in following written and oral instructions accurately.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of full-time experience in a skilled trade under a journey-level professional, equivalent to an apprenticeship program.
- Apprenticeship training or completion of technical courses in a trade may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
