Responsibilities
- Installs and relocates aerial and underground cables, including fiber optic, transportation, distribution, and drop cables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, technical reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Assists with traffic control to maintain a safe work environment.
- Performs broom and shovel work to support underground utility construction crews.
- Aids team members with trenching, digging, pulling, and removing materials as needed.
- Operates power equipment for various tasks, including demolition, concrete removal, grading, truck/dumpster loading, site clean-up, and other general construction duties using company-owned or rental equipment.
- Adheres to all safety protocols and utilizes the appropriate protective equipment.
- Provides assistance to line crews throughout all phases of construction activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent training as a lineman, trainee, or apprentice, with the ability to identify power space violations and safety hazards.
- Must be capable of climbing poles to cable height using pole climber gaffs.
- A valid driver’s license (CDL A preferred) with a clean driving record is required.
- Must be able to lift, reach, dig, and carry heavy materials, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
- This role requires extensive manual labor, including walking on uneven terrain, working in confined spaces, and performing physically demanding tasks. The ability to carry out heavy labor safely and efficiently is essential.
- Must be available for overtime on weekdays and weekends and be willing to travel as required.
